Good Faith Estimate
Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act
You have the right to receive a clear estimate of expected costs before beginning services.
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage, about their right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost before you receive services.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance — or who are not using insurance — an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including mental health and substance use disorder services.
What This Means for You
Before beginning services at The Healing Vine Counseling, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate that includes:
- Expected charges for each service you may receive
- Expected frequency of services
- Any other items or services reasonably expected to be provided
If Your Bill Is Higher Than Expected
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit cms.gov/nosurprises or call the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at 1-800-985-3059.
